It was mid-June when Natalie texted me to ask about wedding photography. I was standing in the Meijer parking lot while I read her message and I squealed so loud that I scared myself and almost dropped my own phone. I knew it was going to be a special day when she said it would be a small, backyard wedding but I didn’t know quite how impacting it would be until afterward when Xav and I were driving home. The kindness expressed to us from Natalie and JP as well as the bridal party and all the wedding guests was mind-blowing. Not only was the setting and the size of the wedding a dream come true (I knew I’d love intimate, outdoor weddings), but the care that everyone had for the people around them was beautiful (and anyone that has Chopotle and popcorn for their reception meal is the real winner). It was a day FILLED to the brim with smiles, laughter and dear friends. Natalie and JP, we wish you guys lived closer! We would love to get together for Chipotle the next time you are in town 😉
And then as it got perfectly golden, I brought them to the far corner of the yard for a few more completely, perfectly and incandescently happy portraits.
I was so glad that I got to spend the day with Xavier as my other shooter also. He has really picked up on the little things I’ve showed him and I’m beginning to rely on his help and abilities as a 2nd shooter (some of the images in this post were taken by him!). I have a feeling that 2017 will be a fun year!
