In the summer, Xav and I spend almost all of our weekend time outside. This is especially true on wedding weekends! We started shooting primarily outdoor, summer weddings after our own backyard wedding in 2015. Getting married outside is a connection that we can instantly appreciate and relate to!
While backyard weddings, like our own, are crazy enjoyable for us to capture, sometimes a yard just doesn’t quite accommodate everyone’s outdoor wedding day needs. When that is the case, having an outdoor venue option is fantastic!
Xav and I have had the privilege of working with several, amazing outdoor wedding venues over the past few years. We are currently in the midst of our 2019 wedding season, but I know several couples who are planning 2020 weddings right now and I thought it would be an ideal time to share my top three outdoor wedding venues and why they are so awesome! While some venues have a great ceremony location or reception hall, these three venues were chosen primarily because they are committed to providing their couples with a full wedding day experience… from having stunning getting ready spaces and multiple ceremony site locations, to also offering a multitude of portrait options and fantastic reception spaces… these venues truly have it all!
Without further delay, I’m excited to announce our top three outdoor Michigan wedding venues!
If you’re looking for a gorgeous location, ideal for a small, private wedding, then Greencrest Manor is the ultimate venue!
I got the opportunity to shoot at Greencrest Manor last year when I took Caleb and Lauren’s engagement photos. The amount of portrait and ceremony locations blew me away and I even got a quick peek at the inside spiral staircase and getting ready rooms! Not only is the venue stunning and full of elegant, English inspiration, but the outdoor patio with string lights and darling windows covered in vines, got me super excited to come back for Evan and Erin’s wedding this fall!
If you need to accommodate a massive guest list or if you want the security of having a back-up indoor location, then Northfork is the best venue!
We shot our first wedding at Northfork during one of their first full years of operation in 2017. In October of 2018, we got to come back and shoot another wedding in the craziest storm ever. The venue owner and coordinator, Marta, quickly moved the ceremony inside so that we could stay on schedule. Not only is the Northfork team fantastic, but they also offer a getting ready space for both the groomsmen and the bridesmaids as well as several epic ceremony sites. I love their dance floor chandelier and I can’t wait to be back this fall for our third year in a row.
If you’re looking for a modern and classy vineyard feel, paired with the epic shores of Michigan lakes, then look no further. This new wedding venue is perfect!
Pleasant Valley Farms is a winner that we are excited about! Although we only did our first wedding here last month, it has already shot to the top of our venue list. This established vineyard recently added a barn and started hosting weddings! The grounds are situated amongst the most gorgeous rolling hills and lakes. It is also just a short drive away from Lake Michigan sand dunes and a lighthouse! With a darling and spacious getting ready house and several rentable ceremony and reception options available, this is fabulous wedding location is one we can’t wait to revisit.
Congratulations to these three venues for going above and beyond for our couples! We love locations that care about our #brumwelltownbrides as much as we do. Thank you for hosting every part of the wedding day, as it truly gets rid of so much stress and allows our couples to focus on what matters most. Xav and I can’t wait to work with you at your venue again soon!
