Month twelve was full of discovery for our little man. He discovered climbing on the couch, knocking over baby gates, and opening kitchen cupboards. He continues to want to figure out how things work.

Birthday week was a whirlwind with a trip to the zoo and a party with family coming right before shooting a wedding! But we got to celebrate our boy and soak him up while reliving so many of our first memories with him one year ago! The first year feels like such a huge milestone. Looking back at photos from his birth, I had no idea that the immense, powerful, and incredible love I had for Felix back then would grow every single day as we walked through life with him. He has so much joy and spunk – so much sassiness and sweetness all wrapped up in one tiny human!

Felix’s grandparents made the food for his party (and sent me flowers!) which was such a massive blessing! I knew I wanted to do a “Where the Wild Things Are” party based on his middle name (Wilder) but I wasn’t sure how I was going to pull it off until they offered to cater the food! (They run a catering business if you’re looking for food for your next event ;)). Having the food covered gave me time to focus on the details and the decorations – it was such fun! I also did three days of birthday photo shoots… because I can’t help myself and because our guy is BUSY! Xav helped me with the shoots and we just made them super short. It filled my mama heart to get to take all these photos this year and see the final collages <3 The only time I got super sentimental the whole week was when I laid him down on the night before his birthday. I rocked him and put him to bed and then walked back in his room, scooped him up, and took him on a twilight walk. He was so confused but I needed some more time with my little baby before he became a big boy. (oh and when I bought his “1” candle… haha started crying in Meijer). What a ride!
