There are some families that just feel like sunshine, and the Tate family is one of them. Getting to meet their extended family this summer for photos was a true honor!
I’ve had the joy of photographing them on their farm for a few years now, and every time I visit, I’m reminded why I love them so much. Their home is one of those places where the screen door is always open, the fields stretch wide in every direction, and the comforting sounds of kids playing, chickens clucking, and cows mooing greet you as soon as you open the car door.
This summer’s session was a little extra special because I got to meet their newest addition as well as their grandparents, cousins, aunt and uncle! It was such a joy to meet more of the Tate crew and spend a slow July evening surrounded by the kind of connection that makes extended family sessions feel easy and meaningful.
The kids ran barefoot through the grass, chased each other between photos, and thoroughly enjoyed their mid-session snack break of cheese (huge fan of that decision). Later, they also took a “play in the truck” break, where the kids piled into the back of the pickup and let loose, jumping and giggling and turning a simple moment into something magical. These are the in-between parts of a laid back family session that I love the most. The moments that don’t need much staging, just a few slow minutes.
Tate family, thank you again for inviting me back and trusting me to capture another chapter of your story. Your laughter, kindness, and the way you make space for joy is always a gift to witness and capture.
