Sacred Charm and Enduring Love | Josiah + Annika’s Lansing Wedding at a Historic Church

Sometimes the story of a wedding day unfolds beautifully throughout the day as we take pictures. Other times, the story begins long before we arrive and we get to see the threads woven throughout the broader picture. Our story is tied to Josiah and Annika’s story, starting more than eight years ago! Our wedding, much like Josiah and Annika’s, took a community to pull together! We too had friends and family come around us to set up tables, create a dance floor, and celebrate while serving. It was such a blessing to us and one of the things Xav and I have reflected on over the years is how much it meant to us that one of my mom’s friends offered to come and operate the food tent while the ceremony was happening so that all of our invited guests could take a break from serving to be at our ceremony. Karen Mason showed up and kept things running smoothly so that dinner went off without a hitch! It might have seemed like a small thing to Karen but it was something that really stood out as a blessing amongs so many blessings to us on that special day.

When we decided to offer a wedding giveaway this year as part of our rebrand launch, we wondered who would end up applying and what a surprise it was to hear from one of Karen Mason’s sons! Josiah and Annika picked a quaint little church in the heart of Lansing and opted for beautiful rich tones and lots of greenery. Annika had said she wanted to bring an Autumn theme to June and she pulled it off beautifully. But what we loved more than the gorgeous flat lays and stunning bouquet, was the intentionality of Josiah and Annika to saturate their wedding with prayer and the Bible. They decided to pray before their first look and it was a beautiful picture of their desire to fix their eyes on Jesus first.

Working with Josiah and Annika was such a delight and a reminder to us of God’s abundant love and care. Getting to celebrate this time and serve the Masons was just a full circle moment of joy for us!
